Living History Program
This popular living history program uses objects from the museum`s education collection to bring World War II to life for visitors as re-enactors demonstrate the weapons and discuss the tactics and strategy that won the war. The Pacific Combat Zone is located two blocks northeast of the museum complex on E. Austin Street between Elk and Lee.
Three programs each day: 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm

The Admiral Nimitz Old Texas Round-up Barbeque
A tradition started by Admiral Nimitz while in the Territory of Hawaii and in Guam during World War II -- and continued throughout his career. To be held in the Museum’s Memorial Courtyard, the fundraising barbeque will also feature country music and an auction.

Monday, May 31st Memorial Day Commemoration
In the Museum’s Memorial Courtyard - Featuring speakers, patriotic music and the laying of wreaths

Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson will give our Memorial Day keynote address. The program begins at 10 AM in the Memorial Courtyard. Commissioner Patterson is a native of House, a graduate of Texas A&M, a retired Marine and served in Viet Nam as a pilot. Five consecutive generations of Patterson’s family have served our nation in time of war. His son recently returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq as a U.S. Marine attack helicopter pilot. While serving in the Texas Senate, Patterson chaired the Senate’s first Veterans Affairs Committee. He was first elected Land Commission in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.

JUNE 2010
Friday, June 4th
1st Annual Nimitz Golf Classic
Don't miss this unique day of golf at the beautiful Boot Ranch Golf Course in the Texas Hill Country outside of Fredericksburg. This exclusive 18 hole championship golf course will feature elements from the museum’s military vehicle and equipment collection, and a Fly Over of World War II aircraft. Monday, June 14th Flag Day Celebration
Ceremony in the Plaza of the Presidents will feature talks on the history of the American flag. More than 7000 small American flags will decorate the Museum grounds at this time. Disposal Ceremony for soiled flags to be conducted by Fredericksburg’s Boy Scouts of America troop.

SEPTEMBER 2010
Thursday, September 2nd Sixty-fifth Anniversary of the Signing of the Instrument of Surrender by representatives of the Emperor of Japan. Accepting the surrender, Admiral Nimitz signed on behalf of the United States while General McArthur signed on behalf of the Allied Forces.
